31/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #10. Focusing on Success.

Someone once said “Every great story on the planet happened when someone  in the past decided not to give up, but kept going no matter what”.

One of the wisest thing every success minded individual need to always do is to learn from those who have been there before i.e. learning from history.

In the years gone by and even presently there are individuals that have succeeded in that field or project you wish to succeed in. It’s a good thing to learn how they did, why they failed in the areas they did, what made them stand out when others didn’t, and how they sustained success.

Every high achiever always have someone highly successful they look up to, be it a living person, a legend in ancient stories or some high achiever of the past. Reading books written by people who were giants in their field of work is like absorbing their essence, having a feel of what they did. The more you think about and learn from their takes on life, the more alike you become.

There are so many things to learn from those who have made it in the past and even those who failed. Their successes tells you what you can do to get there while their failures tells you what you need to avoid if you want to get there.

On a lighter note someone once said "nobody is useless in life, if they are good, they are used as good examples, and if they are bad, they are used as bad examples". And that is quite true.

Going down history, there are some legends who you will never want to be like and there are also those whose shoe you will be glad to walk in.

So go read up on the people you admire whether living or legend, cos' reading the biographies, works and reviews of successful people attracts success.

Have a great day.

I honour you.

30/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. RESPONSE.

“Leave your excuses and live your dreams” ~ Paul Davis.
Over the past 9 days we have been on the series that focuses on the success habits every success-minded individual need to develop and I have been getting interesting feedbacks and comments. Thanks for following my daily posts. If at anytime you miss any of my post or you want to read any previous one, you can always find them on www.nicholasae.blogspot.com or www.nic4bags.wordpress.com. I will love to get your comments and contributions because I know you have a lot to share.
One of my ardent followers buzzed with a concern on success. His questions was how does the general adage “No hurry in life and slow and steady wins the race” connect to the issue of time in yesterday’s post? I am going to try and address this today.
While I was growing up, there was one popular proverb we played with in school, it says “Because the hunter has learnt to shoot without missing, birds have learnt to fly without perching”.
We must understand that life is evolving, things are changing, they are not as it used to be.
When people say no hurry in life, it does not mean you should be slow in your growth or pursuit of your dreams, neither does it mean you cannot fly if you have the ability to. You do not tell a child who just started walking to continue crawling because you feel he is too small to walk, if his bones can sustain him, he is good to go. What both advice (no hurry, slow & steady) mean is that get yourself prepared first for what you want to start cos’ if you don’t prepare enough and hurry it into, you will crash. That is the truth. But if you misunderstand them and you sit on your butt telling yourself that there is still time, am sorry to inform you, time waits for no man.
A good illustration is the picture on my DP (if you are reading from BBM or Whatsapp). Ordinarily, the Zebra cannot outrun the Lion but with the motorcycle, he can. But if the Zebra decides to stick with the old method of running with his legs, hmmm my guess is as good as yours.
For every man and woman, your responsibilities and expectations increases and grow as you do. The amount of money needed to sustain you some years back is not the same today, it has doubled, tripled and even more. If your income still remains the same, then you will be in great trouble.
It is your level of success that determines how much income you take home at the end of the month. And you will agree with me that new inventions and possibilities are opening up every day. People want to be part of the new happenings, employers want to use the latest tools in the market hence they seek individuals with such skills, customers want to associate with businesses that integrate latest developments. If you want to increase your level of success you must decide to start walking in areas where you have been crawling, running where you have been walking and flying where you have been running.
Someone said “good things come to those who wait but better things come to those who go out and get them”.
The world awaits you!

Please do leave your comments.

Have a lovely Wednesday!

I honour you.

29/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #9 Spending Time and Energy on Fruitful Engagements.

If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of ~ Bruce Lee.
Of all the resources God has given to every man to create his or her own success, time is the most important. That is why the bible says “… but time and chance happeneth to them all…Ecl. 9 : 11”.
The difference between a man who succeeds and the one who failed is how they spent their time and energy. You cannot get the best out of the thing you give the smallest time. You will agree with me that other than just the necessary ingredients, a nice meal needs quality time and attention during preparation. The same applies to that project, business, or dream of yours. If you want it to be successful, you need to give it quality time.
A great mistake we make at times is spending time on things that will not bring us closer to our dreams. No man running a marathon stops to give a handshake, it must wait till the finish line.
Studying, building your business, associating with successful people are good ways to use these two precious resources – time and energy – to invite success. The more wisely you spend your time and energy, the more successful you become.
Socrates once said “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”. If you want something greater than what you already have, focus your time and energy on it.
Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can’t buy more hours. Scientists can’t invent new minutes. And you can’t save time to spend it on another day. Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you’ve wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow, don’t waste that as well ~ Denis Waitley.

28/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #8 Finding Strength Within!

No one can make you feel inferior without your permission ~ Eleanor Rosevelt.

How you think and feel about yourself always clothes you with energetically similar reality. When you get in touch with your strong and authentic self, life’s difficulties don’t seem that discouraging anymore. You must understand that there will be times when things will not feel right, there will be times when you get discouraged and it seems you need a time out but life is not a video game with a pause button that you can hit and take a break, you have to keep going and to do that you need to look for the strength within you.

This is the time when you need to ask yourself these questions: Was I made to fit in or stand out? Am I here to watch or make things happen? Did I come this far to back out? Is there a slight chance that I can make it? If you can answer these questions, I believe you will find the strength you need.

The easiest way to connect with this inner core of strength is to read inspirational stories, because they help you understand that no matter where you are in life and no matter who you are, you can become as great as you choose to be.

Sometimes we forget about our own advantages because we focus in what we don’t have. Just because you have to work a little harder at something that seems easier to others don’t mean you’re without your own talents ~ Chris Colfer. Always remember that all men were not born equal.

May Sarton wrote “We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be”.

You are the sole creator of your life – the sooner you understand this, the quicker you will feel empowered to change.

If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Have a fruitful week.

I honour you!

27/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #7 Personal Integrity.

Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There’s plenty of movement, but you never know if it’s going to be forward, backwards or sideways ~ Jackson Brown.

One of the most important value that people look for in an individual is integrity. People want to interact and have dealings with someone whose words and actions can be trusted, not an individual whose integrity is in doubt.

It is very important that what you said yesterday is the same thing that you will say today, tomorrow and any other day thereafter. Once people realize that you are inconsistent in your words and actions, they will withdraw from you and when that begins to happen, you are gradually losing your shot at success.

Always follow your heartfelt values, and never let a situation or anyone steer you away from doing what you know is right. Be someone that people can look up to and respect and not someone who trades his or her moral values for material gains in life.

You do not need to bend your moral value in order to win anyone.

Will Smith said “Don’t chase people. Be yourself, do your own thing and work hard. The right people – the ones who really belong in your life – will come to you and stay”.

Keep doing what is right, keep holding up your personal integrity, your success is not far away.

Have a wonderful Sunday celebration and thanksgiving.

26/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #6 Value Yourself.

One of the most beautiful things God created is you, that’s why my friend @IamQueenVikcy wrote in her song…
“Did I hear you say, nothing special about me, did I hear you say, am not important, didn’t make you first so won’t sweat, made all things first so you will flex, oxygen from plant to you, nature works hand in hand for you, don’t you ever undermine my priceless craft that took my time, you should really know your worth, 24 hours nor be mouth, finger prints unique design there’s not the one that looks like yours, each time I look at you I find reasons to scream BEAUTIFUL……”

Walt Disney once wrote ~ The more you like yourself, the less you are likely anyone else, which makes you unique.

You must learn to appreciate YOU, It’s vital for your success.

Success can only come if you feel worthy of it. Most people don’t, because of their “not–dealt-with” past hurts. Whether these emotional pains were caused by parents’ discouragements, teachers’ close-minded criticisms or peers’ hurtful remarks, you should deal with them so that they would stop affecting your self-esteem.

The fact that you have come this far is a confirmation of your uniqueness, don’t undermine that.

Learn to behave like the male Lizard  as the African proverb would have it, who when he falls from a great height praises himself with a nod when no one else will.

Do celebrate yourself.

Have a great weekend!

25/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #5 Focus on Providing Value.

If you focus on providing value and forget about rewards, success will take care of itself ~ Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motors company.

How much value do you provide to the people around you? Are you the one your friends seek when they need guide or help on important stuffs? How valuable are you in the work place? If your team or group is to make a list of the 5 most valuable individuals, would your name be on the list? Or do you think it does not really matter?  Truth is, it really does matter in the end.

You must understand that success is a measure of how much value you provide, the higher your value, the higher you net worth. If you’re not that successful, it means you need to look for ways to be more useful, ways to provide more value, instead of working out new schemes to make money. It’s a different mindset, a less selfish and more effective one to attract success.

People pay for value not just product or faces. That is why a diamond and a gold ring can never sell at the same price. They are both rings, they are worn on the same finger but the difference in price is in the individual values that they have to offer.

Jane Goodall wrote ~ What you do makes a difference, you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.

Nothing makes you special or more significant if you can’t deliver a value higher than what the next man can. If he can deliver more value than you can, then….you can guess what might happen.

You want to be a success? Increase your value and you will be glad you did.

If you can only believe it, you can achieve it!

Have a lovely Friday!

I honour you!

24/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #4 Understand Obstacles.

The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people ~ Randy Pausch.

When you experience set backs, delays and a lot of “NOs” in the pursuit of your goal or dream, they are meant for you to gain more experience and become better in that aspect, and giving time you will soon realize that you learnt more with that obstacles than you would have learnt naturally without it. It gives you an opportunity to reassess your strengths and weaknesses and seek ways of becoming better.

Albert Einstein said “Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them”.

Most people loathe obstacles and fear them. Such mindset makes it very hard to achieve success. Obstacles should be seen as helpful tools and relevant lessons.
I must also add, it could be one of the most frustrating and painful experience on the path of success, but if you just don’t give up, you will celebrate in the end of the day.

Learn what every obstacle has to teach, and see them as signs that you’re making progress.

Believe and you will get there.

Have a nice day.

23/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #3 Productivity!

The WordWeb dictionary describes productivity as the quality of being productive or having the power to produce. It’s an attribute that actually defines your worth in an organization, team or business arena. The higher your productivity, the higher your worth and the better your chances at success. To be productive, it is required that you put in a lot of work and be focused on the goal.
Success doesn’t come to those who sit back and wait. It’s important to both work and keep your focus on the goals. Hard work alone will keep you stuck in average existence. You need to have a high vision as it will guide you to success.

By working hard you’re making life owe you. By having a high vision you’re showing life how to repay you for your hard work.

Choose to be more productive and you will be sure to find success.

Have a lovely Wednesday.

I honour you!

22/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop. #2 Reliability!

How reliable are you? Can people commit things to you and go to sleep with the believe that you will deliver? Do you promise and back out at the 11th hour? From 1 – 10 on the scale of reliable people, where do you fall?

In the epic high fantasy movie, Lord of the Rings, we see that being unreliable has great consequences. In the story, there were a group of people known as the men of the mountain. At the rise of Sauron, these men swore an oath to the king of Gondor, Isildur to go to battle with him but when he needed them to stand against the enemy, they reneged, vanishing into the mountains and Isildur put a curse on them, decreeing that they would never rest until they had fulfilled their obligation. And they lived with that curse till they all died and even in death, they were not free from it. It was till they yielded to Aragon’s call and followed him to battle were they freed of the curse. Their participation in that battle gave the people of middle earth the greatest victory over the dark lord at the city of kings, Minas Tirith.

Someone once said “a shift in fortune tests the reliability of friends”.

Success is like a friend. Friends don’t trust you and don’t visit that often if you constantly let them down. In fact, you’re risking not having any friends at all if they find you utterly unreliable.

The same goes for success. You repel it if you don’t keep your word or don’t take your actions and behavior seriously. People won’t seek your services if over time you’ve let them down.

People need someone who they can rely on not someone that would bail out on them.

Ask yourself if you are a reliable person. If not, try to become so.

Have a productive Tuesday.

I honour you!

21/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 15 Success Habits You Need To Develop!

Habits describes how an individual naturally responds to things without a second thought.

Right from birth everyone of us developed different habits depending on our background and the type of training we received.

For example I recently learnt that whenever you return to the house after the days job or outing, the first healthy thing to do is to wash your hands before you touch anything in the house, it keeps the germs away. I bet a good number of us don't know or practice that before now.

Over the next 15 days, we will be learning 15 habits associated with success. Just like you have healthy habits that keeps you fit and in good health, Success also has it's own habits. Some you already know and has become part of your everyday life while some would be new to you.

1. Stability!
Sometimes, we become slaves to our emotions. With our emotions going down we also go down, and when our emotions go up, we rejoice. We allow this to rub off on the job we do and how we respond to people in the work or business place.

Sometimes it results in transfer of aggression, at other times it's mood swings. But whichever form it takes, if you can't keep it together, your success for that day is not guaranteed.

Try to master your emotions – refuse to be affected by them. If you keep yourself stable no matter what moods you experience, this energy of stability will attract success.

You have to be bigger than your emotions if you want to have a greater than average life.

Have a successful week ahead.

19/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 7 Life Lessons From Benjamin Franklin. #7 Make an Impression!

You have to begin to tell the story of your life as you now want it to be and would love it to be told when you are gone and discontinue the tales of how it has been or of how it is ~ Esther & Jerry Hicks.

We have been learning great lessons from the life of Benjamin Franklin and the last but not the least we would be looking at in this series is “Making an Impression”.

The current era we live in is characterized by so much sophistication and improvement compared to what it was 20, 50, and 100 years ago. We have better means of communication, we have better control over many sicknesses and diseases, we can move across great distances within a short time frame, we can get as much information as we need with little efforts and rite from the comfort of our homes, we can predict the weather and we can do so many other wonderful things that were not possible in generations past.

All of these were made possible by the men and women who walked this earth before us. Some found the principles and laws to achieve these things, others applied those findings in creating these beautiful things while yet another group worked hard at making these things available and ensured they were passed on to us.

That's why anytime you enjoy any of these things you always have reasons to appreciate their works and their names will never be forgotten cos' they made an impression.

Benjamin Franklin said, “Many people die at twenty five and aren’t buried until they are seventy five.” Because their works and deeds outlived them.

I hope you’re not dead, I hope you haven’t achieved all that you’re going to achieve; I hope your best days are in front of you and I think they are.

Our ultimate goals as human should be to               “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”         Until you do that, you have not actually lived.

It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things ~ Leonardo Va Vinci.

Go happen to things and be sure to leave a good impression behind.

The World is waiting for you!

Have a wonderful weekend relaxation and celebration.

18/07/2014 ~ #NicholasA ~ 7 Life Lessons From Benjamin Franklin. #6 Be Diligent!

Do you pay attention to all the necessary details that makes up that project or business of yours or are you just haphazardly running through them? Are you being diligent at it?

The WordWeb dictionary defines diligence as “Conscientiousness in paying proper attention to a task; giving the degree of care required in a given situation”. It is a persevering determination to perform a task”.

It is of utmost importance to every one seeking success to develop a diligent nature to such issues as business, project, team etc. because just like every new born child, they need care and close monitoring in order to grow into maturity.

If you are not diligent enough, there is the possibility of missing out on crucial details that would have led to good outcomes.

Benjamin Franklin said “Diligence is the mother of good luck.”

If you want to be lucky, be diligent, the more diligent you are, the luckier you will be. Everyone has the ability to increase their luck so many folds by becoming more diligent.

King Solomon wrote “the diligent shall be made rich”.

How we do anything is how we do everything. The fact is, if we’re *truly* committed to living a life less ordinary, we’ve GOTTA embrace the moment to moment opportunities to bring our best to the world. It’s the aggregate of those little things that make the great and there’s simply no way we’re going to do the big things well if we only give part of ourselves to the mundane ~ B Johnson

Create the habit of being diligent in all you do, and you will be surprised at how lucky you become and how far you will go.

The world is waiting for YOU!

Have a lovely Friday!

I honour you!
